Former Colts QB Jacob Eason spent two years alongside Nick Siriani as a fourth-round pick at Indianapolis.

The Philadelphia Eagles are ready to assemble their practice squad after setting up a 53-man roster. There are 16 slots I’m trying to pull from the NFL’s scrap heap.

Quarterback is still the most important position. Yes, an easy move would be to bring back Reid Sinnet and run a scout team to hone his overpowering skills. But the smart money lies in scanning Waverwire and adding new talent.

General Manager Howie Roseman has already confirmed that a third quarterback will be signed in the coming days.

1. Nate Sudfeld: Jeffrey Lurie’s Favorite Quarterback – The Man Eagles Owner Once Called “can not stop” – was cut by San Francisco 49ers After the team invested $2 million in him. Here are his 2022 preseason stats: 5/10 for 49 yards with 1 interception. 13 of 17 for 102 yards and one touchdown. 8-of-11 for 10 yards and one touchdown. Laugh as much as you like, but the Eagles could do worse.

2. Cooper Rush: At 6 feet 3 inches and 225 pounds, this player not only looks like some of the franchise starters, but he also has a scout. drooling all the time About his accuracy and cleverness. He threw for his 325 yards and his two touchdowns to lead Dallas to his 20-16 win in 2021. And the Cowboys rewarded him by cutting him after 10 months. Rush would be a perfect third stringer for the Eagles if someone didn’t sign him as a backup first.

3. Jacob Eason: The Seattle Seahawks chose to pick Genno Smith and Drew Lock over Eason. He flew his 148 yards in interceptions for his 19/39. 2 preseason games. not bad. The 24-year-old was a fourth-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 and played one season under then-offensive coordinator Nick Siriani.Earn Eason some early praise from Siriani after a decent preseason that year. He knows the system.

Is Marlon Mack of Serious Interest?

Whether the Eagles are looking for a goal line back or a potential replacement for Miles Sanders’ injury is an ongoing story this offseason. The team kept its three running backs — Sanders, Kenny Gainwell, and Boston Scott — at 53. Jason Huntley and Kennedy Brooks have been sacked, but look for them on the practice squad.

Meanwhile, the Houston Texans surprisingly released Marlon Mack and he is not eligible for waivers. It’s hard to imagine the Eagles ringing his phone non-stop after the 4 p.m. deadline. The 6-foot, 210-pounder ticks all the boxes, including his three years in Siriani’s system. Mack has started 23 games for Indy, and in 2019 he had 1,091 yards and he had eight touchdowns.

Predictions for a 16-person practice team

There are certain players the Eagles will definitely try to put on their 16-man practice squad. However, these are the names you are likely to be asked for in your next role.

Wide receiver (4): Devon Allen, Deon Kane, John Hightower, Britain Covey
cause: All four players flashed at certain points during training camp and preseason action.and Allen highlight reel touchdownAll of them should be high priority claims except Hightower.

Running back (2): Kennedy Brooks, Jason Huntley
cause: Brooks was the thunderclap to Huntley’s lightning bolt at camp. Both players need to learn how to strengthen their blocks and make more decisive cuts. It can be a high quality backup.

Defensive tackle (2): Kobe Smith, Marvin Wilson
cause: Smith can return to the IR and will not occupy a roster spot. It will be difficult for Wilson to come back. The man known as “Big Marv” recorded five tackles in the preseason finale, cause havoc during the summer.

Cornerbacks (4): Tay Gowan, AJ Parker, Kary Vincent, Mario Goodrich
cause: made of gowan some plays In preseason, he was a little useful at times. Parker got a surprise cut by Detroit, a man with legitimate starter experience.Vincent knows defense, but Goodrich just needs an extra rep.

Quarterback (1): Reed Sinnett or Jacob Eason
cause: The comfort of Sirianni’s system is too perfect to pass up.

Offensive Line (2): Kayode Awosica, Jack Anderson
cause: Anderson almost reached 53 and was narrowly beaten by Josh Sills. A reliable guard. The same goes for Awo deer, except for the tackle swap guard.

Punter (1): Brett Kahn
cause: Do you trust Arryn Siposs? Khan is his three-time Pro Bowler, Abandoned by Tennessee in a move to cut costs. The 36-year-old was set to make his $2.1 million. If the Eagles manage to work something out financially (read: cheaper), he could be on board to push his Siposs.
