Mike McDaniel had planned to take his first afternoon off since becoming the Miami Dolphins’ new head coach. He said he was going to spend some quality time with her and the couple’s young daughter.
But Dolphins general manager Chris Greer came to McDaniel’s office and suggested the team might be interested in Tyreek Hill, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro wideout with the Kansas City Chiefs. Things quickly changed when we broke the news that there was a

The first day at the office turned into McDaniel consuming footage of Hill for the next five hours. McDaniel, who eventually returned home after escaping from Hill’s tape black hole, left the office not because he wanted the Dolphins to buy Hill, but because they needed to.
McDaniel and the Dolphins then went through the ups and downs that come with trying to acquire elite players. At one point, Greer told McDaniel that things didn’t look so good because he had several other teams playing as well. I watched more tapes to convince me to choose dolphins.
Shortly after, the phone was handed to McDaniel and Hill was on the other end. McDaniels wasted no time convincing Hill that Miami was where he needed to continue his career.
“I’m shooting every shot I have,” McDaniel said. said, ‘Oh, coach, I’m coming.’ It was over. I was freaked out. I think I yelled. That was the only time I yelled at the office.

The Dolphins haven’t traded everything, but they’ve given up quite a bit to get talented wideouts. Miami eventually acquired Hill after sending five draft picks to the Chiefs, including the 29th and 50th overall picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. Hill, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wideout Jaylen Waddle, tight end Mike Geschke, and McDaniels struggling a bit to develop an offense this season featuring stable running backs including Chase For , this haul was worth it.
