Stackhouse Art Walk | Artisan Handcrafted Items Highlight Fundraisers | Entertainment

Johnstown, Pennsylvania – Get outside for a crafty day in nature.

The Stackhouse Park Art Walk takes place on August 28th from 10am to 6pm at Stackhouse Park, 998 Lucerne Street, Johnstown.

The event features arts and crafts vendors, musical entertainment, food vendors, children’s activities, a dog contest, and a 5K race.

According to event organizer Dennis Urban, Stackhouse Park’s Art Walk began three years ago when park board members were looking for new activities to offer at the park.

“I’m a crafter and an artist, so I thought I could do a craft show,” she said.

“I was overwhelmed by the attendance in both the first and second years.

“Last year we had over 1,000 visitors, and we expect even more this year.”

There are 60 vendors along the Tioga Trail and around the Tioga Pavilion.

“Vendors who participated last year were happy to sign up,” says Urban.

“This year, we also have vendors from outside the area, coming from Pittsburgh and Maryland.”

Items include wood carvings, fiber art, jewellery, crochet and knit items, home decor, wood signs, seasonal wreaths, dog treats and accessories, acrylics and watercolors, handcrafted jerky, baked goods, and Seasons at See’s Garden Center. flowers and plants.

“Artists and craftsmen are judges and of high quality,” says Urban.

“Everything is handmade.”

The Evergreens offers musical entertainment at Shops on Diamond from 11 AM to 12:30 PM. Wednesdays from 11am to 2pm at the Spangler Pavilion. Mark Weekland from 4pm to 6pm at the Spangler Pavilion.

Run The Park 5K starts at Rangers Station at 8:00 AM.

“Last year we had 80 people,” says Urban.

“Through the park, it’s a challenging course.”

The cost is $25 and registration can be done online at www.ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=95900.

Dog contests kick off at 10:30 am in the Spangler Pavilion with four categories: Best Costume, Most Beautiful Dog, Longest Kiss and Most Talented Dog.

There will be a first prize and a second prize for each category.

Admission is $5. Applications are available online at www.artwalkinthepark.com.

“This has really grown,” Urban said.

“People love their dogs.”

At 3:00 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting for the park’s new Story Walk near the Spangler Pavilion.

“For little kids, each pole has a page of a book that you can follow along the path and read,” Urban said.

“It changes frequently.”

Children’s activities include crafts and face painting.

A Steel City Ax will be set up opposite the park entrance for those who want to experience ax throwing.

Dining options include Balance Restaurant, Grumbling Gypsy, Red’s Texas BBQ, Roots Juicery & Kitchen, Kona Ice of Conemaugh Valley, Hungry Owl, Brick Lid Pizza by Norman and Mary Ed, B & L Wine Cellars, and Noble Stein Brewery Co. there is.

Additionally, Mill House Café & Co. (828 Diamond Blvd.) serves coffee and pastries.

Proceeds will be donated to Stackhouse Park to help maintain the trail and provide educational programs.

“We hope that people will not only enjoy the crafts, but also take in the beauty of the park, take a deep breath and enjoy nature,” Urban said.

“We also hope to bring more recognition to this park as it is a hidden gem and many people do not know where it is or what it is about. ”

There is no entrance fee.

Parking is available on the Westmont Hilltop Elementary School grounds.

Golf carts driven by For Johnstown volunteers will be on site to transport attendees up and down the trail, as well as help carry shopping.
