Open legislative seats in Oklahoma, Florida and New York top the advertising spending rankings when it comes to seats won during Tuesday’s primary elections in the three states.

According to AdImpact, in Tuesday’s poll, the races that have attracted the most ad dollars since the start of 2022 are:

oklahoma-02

The seat is vacant as Republican Rep. Mark Wayne Marin bid in the Senate. With the seats leaning heavily toward the Republican Party, the big show on the airwaves will be the GOP between former state senator Josh Bresheen and state legislator Avery Fricks, who emerged above a crowded field in June’s primary election. It’s a primary (and primary runoff vote).

Brecheen is backed by the School Freedom Fund, which has spent about $3 million since the beginning of the year. This includes both negative and positive comments, including Brecheen-supporting Texas Senator Ted Cruz. The Fund for a Working Congress, which cost him over $1.4 million, attacked him (he said he regretted it) for previously supporting the election of a president by popular vote.

Florida-13

This St. Petersburg area constituency is open due to the governor’s bid for Democratic Rep. Charlie Christ. And like the 7th District, the redistricting here puts the map in favor of the Republicans, but on the right side is a big-money scramble.

The biggest spender will be Club for Growth Action, which supports Republican activist Anna Paulina Luna, and is set to spend more than $1.5 million by day one. Attorney Kevin Hayslet is being attacked with an ad saying he is “guilty of aiding and abetting the Democrats.”

A group called Stand with Florida is attacking Paulina Luna by calling her an “Obama-loving, generous pardon Reno.”

The third largest spender is the left, the group that supports Democrat Eric Lynn.

This Democratic primary is packed with viable candidates. But you won’t know that by looking at the state of ad spend through Tuesday.

That’s because most of the spending ($3.5 million out of the $5.1 million booked and spent through Tuesday) went to one candidate, former impeachment attorney (and former MSNBC contributor) Daniel Goldman. is. Rep. Mondale Jones’ campaign is spending an additional $1.4 million, and Nuestro PAC is the group that supports New York City Councilman Carlina Rivera.$500,000 spent on advertising on the final day of the race.

New York-19

Governor Kathy Hochul’s gains are House Democrats’ losses, and this free-seat special election was created because former Congressman Antonio Delgado left to join Hochul as lieutenant governor.

Two county officials, Democrat Pat Ryan and Republican Mark Molinaro, are vying to replace him in a special election seen as a test of each party’s strategy leading up to the midterm elections.

While Ryan and a group of Democrats have focused primarily on abortion rights in their campaign messages, Molinaro and his Republican allies have focused on inflation and crime.

Republicans (National Republican Congressional Committee, Molinaro, and Congressional Leadership Fund) beat the Democratic side (Ryan, VoteVets, and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee) by $2.2 million to $1.2 million.

Florida-07

The seat has been vacant thanks to the retirement of Democratic Rep. Stephanie Murphy, and increased competition in the constituency is pushing the right wing in particular to spend more.

Much of this seat’s spending was actually spent last year when Republicans were trying to bully Murphy into retirement. Since she announced she would not run, virtually all advertising dollars have come from the right.

The top spenders are Army veteran Corey Mills, former Orange County Commissioner Ted Edwards, state legislator Anthony Sabatini, and Navy veteran Brady Duke, with more groups attacking Sabatini this year than any other group. was also very expensive.
